Venerable Longinus the Gatekeeper of the Kiev Caves

He labored in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the 13th-14th centuries. It is known that he served as a gatekeeper and was renowned for his great obedience and holiness of life. He is buried in the Far Caves.
The inscription on the cave board reads: “...having passed the monastic obedience in a holy and righteous manner, he was deemed worthy of the gift of miracle-working from the All-Knowing God, for he knew the thoughts of those coming into and going out of the monastery...”
