Bishop
The servant of God Leo, Bishop of Catania, was the son of pious parents from the Ravenna region. For his pure life, he was elevated to the episcopal throne in the city of Catania, located in Sicily. Saint Leo cared for orphans, the poor, and the sick, feeding and clothing them, and was a merciful father to his children. In his days, a sorcerer named Iliodor lived in Catania, who, having rejected Christ, began to serve demons and performed magical wonders, leading the people astray. Bishop Leo repeatedly tried to convince Iliodor to repent, but he did not change and even decided to mock the archbishop. During the Divine service, the sorcerer began to perform his enchantments, causing confusion among the people. The saint, having prayed, bound Iliodor with his omophorion and, entering the fire with him, was unharmed, while the sorcerer was burned. This miracle brought many to fear and admiration. Saint Leo also healed the sick, cast out demons, and destroyed idol temples. In old age, he departed to the Lord, and after his death, a woman suffering from a hemorrhage was healed from her ailment by touching his bed. The body of the saint was placed in the church of Saint Lucy, where it continued to heal people.
