Saint Leontius, Canonarch of the Kiev Caves
Venerable
Saint Leontius, the canonarch of the Caves, entered the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery at a young age and took monastic vows. Possessing a beautiful voice, he performed the duties of a canonarch after learning to read and write. Saint Leontius passed away young in the 14th century and, for his selfless efforts in salvation, was glorified by the Lord with the gracious gift of miracles. The relics of this holy ascetic are located in the Far Caves, and his memory is also celebrated on August 28, in the Synaxis of the Kiev-Pechersk Saints.
