Saints Leontius, Hypatius, and Theodulus were persecuted by the African governor Adrian. When he learned of their faith in Christ, he began to chase them.
Saint Leontius served in the army. He was a virtuous man, strong in body, distinguished by bravery and courage. Noted for his boldness, he quickly rose to high military rank. He fought against idolatry and helped the poor.
His God-pleasing struggle soon began to bear fruit, as many of the soldiers under his command embraced Christianity. Among them, there were Saints Hypatius and Theodulus.
When Adrian learned of their activity, he ordered their arrest and torture. The two soldiers endured every humiliation with courage, always confessing their faith. Leontius was also subjected to torture, yet he never denied Christ. He was sentenced to death, endured severe sufferings, and finally surrendered his soul to the Lord.
The memory of the three saints is commemorated on 18 June.
