Bishop
Saint Righteous Lazarus, brother of Martha and Mary, lived in Bethany, near Jerusalem. He was granted special favor from the Lord Jesus Christ, who often visited their home and called Lazarus His friend. The Lord raised Lazarus from the dead after he had been in the tomb for four days. This miracle attracted many Jews, who came not only to meet Jesus but also to see Lazarus. As a result, the chief priests decided to kill Lazarus to stop the spread of faith in Christ.
According to tradition, Lazarus lived for another 30 years after his resurrection, became a bishop in Cyprus, and worked to spread Christianity. He died peacefully, and in the 9th century, his relics were found in the city of Kition. They were placed in a marble coffin with the inscription: 'Lazarus the four-days dead, friend of Christ.' Later, the relics were transferred to Constantinople and laid in the temple in honor of Righteous Lazarus.
