Hieromartyr Kuksha and Venerable Pimen of the Kiev Near Caves
Venerable
Saint Hieromartyr Kuksha was one of the monks of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. He preached the Gospel, enlightened people and baptized them in the name of Christ. He also performed numerous miracles, casting out demons and bringing rain during times of drought. After enduring many trials and tortures, he was beheaded along with his disciple.
Venerable Pimen practiced asceticism in the same monastery. He prayed with great fervor and had received remarkable spiritual gifts. He healed the sick and had the ability to foresee the future. Indeed, he knew the day of his own death two years in advance and had even foretold the tortures he would bear together with Saint Kuksha.
The Church celebrates the memory of both saints on August 26.
