Archimandrite
Venerable Kronid was born on May 13, 1859, in the village of Levkyevo near Moscow. His father, Pyotr Lyubimov, was a chanter and served in the Church. His secular name was Konstantin. His parents were distinguished by their piety and deep faith, which they also passed on to their son.
In 1878, he entered the Holy Trinity–St. Sergius Lavra as a novice. In 1880, he was called up for military service, but through divine intervention, he was exempted from conscription. On March 28, 1888, he was tonsured a monk, receiving the name Kronid. In 1889, he was ordained a hierodeacon, while in 1892 he became a hieromonk. From 1905, he served as the monastery’s financial administrator, successfully restoring the fragmented property of the brotherhood. In 1917, he was appointed abbot. In 1919, despite pressure from the new authorities, he defended his faith and called the people to repentance. On November 21, 1937 he was arrested and executed on December 10, 1937.
His life was devoted to the Church, to the faith, and to the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
