Saint Martyr Cornutus lived in the village of Satalas, near Nicomedia, and was a zealous confessor of the name of Christ. During the persecutions of Christians, the governor of Iconium, Perennis, sent him to that region. While many Christians were hiding, St. Cornutus, having reached old age, boldly presented himself before the governor and openly confessed himself as a Christian, rebuking the idolatrous flattery. He was subjected to torture: his legs were bound with cords and he was led through the streets, from which blood flowed. Despite the suffering, the saintly martyr thanked God. Ultimately, he was beheaded during the reign of the Roman Emperor Decius (249-251 AD).
