Saint Martyr Priest Konstantin Chekalov was born in 1889 in the village of Nikitskoye, Kalazin district, Tver region. He served in the church of the village of Krasnoye, Kalazin district, Kalinin region. On October 7, 1937, Father Konstantin was arrested and accused of 'anti-Soviet agitation.' The troika of the U.N.K.V.D. of the Kalinin region sentenced the priest to the highest measure of punishment on November 1, 1937, and on November 3, he was shot. The name of Saint Martyr Konstantin was added to the list of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia at the Jubilee Archpastoral Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
