Conon of Perga
Martyr
Saint martyr Konon, originally from Nazareth of Galilee, lived during the reign of Decius in Pamphylia, in the city of Mandon. He led a virtuous life, tending to his garden and feeding on its fruits. The governor Publius, pursuing Christians, learned about Konon and sent soldiers to capture him. The saint, joyfully accepting the soldiers, refused to offer sacrifice to the idols, reproaching the governor for his impiety. He was subjected to cruel tortures, having nails driven into his feet and being led before the governor's chariot. Saint Konon, exhausted, fell to his knees and, with a prayer, surrendered his soul to the Lord.
