Metropolitan Bishop
Saint Cyprian, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Rus', was originally from Serbia, distinguished by his holy life and knowledge of sacred texts. He instructed his flock in prayer and repentance, loved silence, and withdrew to the village of Goleniščevo, where he built a church in honor of the Three Hierarchs. The saint engaged in correspondence and translation of sacred books, wrote the life of Saint Peter, Metropolitan of All Rus'. He practiced prayer and reading of divine scriptures, always remembering death and the Last Judgment. Before his death, he wrote a farewell letter in which he forgave and blessed all the faithful. He died in the year 6914 from the creation of the world, on September 16, and was buried in accordance with his will. His relics were discovered in 1472 and rest in the Moscow Assumption Cathedral.
