Saint Charalampius, Bishop of Magnesia, suffered for his faith in Christ in the year 202. He successfully preached Christianity in Magnesia, which attracted the attention of the ruler Lucian. During the interrogation, he firmly confessed his faith and refused to offer sacrifices to idols, for which he was subjected to cruel tortures. Despite his advanced age, he gratefully endured the sufferings.
Two soldiers, Porphyrius and Baptus, openly confessed Christ and were immediately executed. Three women present during the tortures also glorified Christ and were killed. Lucian, enraged by the saint's steadfastness, personally tortured him, but soon he was struck down. By the prayer of Charalampius, he and other tormentors received healing, which led many to believe in Christ.
Emperor Septimius Severus, upon hearing of the miracles, ordered the saint to be brought to him, where he was tortured again. However, Charalampius remained unharmed thanks to Divine power. He performed miracles, including the resurrection of a dead youth and the healing of a demoniac. The emperor's daughter, Galina, believed in Christ and helped to bury the saint with honor after his execution.
