Saint Carterius of Caesarea in Cappadocia

Saint Carterius was a priest and a teacher in Caesarea of Cappadocia. He lived during the reign of the Emperor Diocletian and the governorship of Urbanus. In 304 AD, he confessed his faith and he admitted that he was preaching the word of Christ. He endured severe tortures. In the end, he lost his life after being pierced by the spear of a Jew. According to the Orthodox iconography, he is depicted holding the Gospel and wearing priestly vestments.
