Martyrs Capitolina and Eroteis of Cappadocia
Martyrs
The holy martyrs Capetolina and Erothidia lived during the reign of Emperor Diocletian and the governor of Cappadocia, Zelikintia. St. Capetolina, coming from a wealthy and noble family, distributed all her possessions to the poor and set her slaves free. As a Christian, she was captured and imprisoned, and then, refusing to offer a sacrifice to the idols, was beheaded by the sword. Her servant Erothidia, defending her mistress and throwing a stone at the governor, was subjected to torture with rods, and then also beheaded by the sword.
On the same day, we commemorate the martyr Mark and those who were killed with him after various tortures for preaching about Christ in Asia.
