Kaluf Egyptian
Martyr
Saint Kaluf the Martyr lived during the reign of Maximian. He was from Egypt and was arrested for confessing his faith in Christ. He was brought before the governor, who ordered that a large stone be tied around his neck and that he be hung upside down. After this, his torturers began to beat him. Desiring to gain the eternal life, the saint endured the blows and humiliations with patience.
After severe tortures, they took him down from the tree where he had been hung and ordered him to offer sacrifice to the idols. He refused. Therefore, they threw him into the fire, where he met a martyr’s death, surrendering his soul, looking toward the heavenly Kingdom of God.
