Saint Justin, a great ascetic and spiritual writer, was born in the city of Vranje to a priest's family on the feast of the Annunciation. He studied at the seminary of St. Sava in Belgrade, where Saint Nicholas (Velimirovic) taught. Later, he studied at the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy and at the theological faculty in Oxford. After some time, he taught at the seminary and cared for numerous spiritual children, participating in the publication of Orthodox newspapers. In 1926, he defended his doctoral dissertation in Athens on the topic: 'The Teaching of Saint Macarius of Egypt on the Mystery of the Human Personality and the Mystery of Its Cognition.' From the end of 1930, he worked as a missionary in the Transcarpathian cities. He was nominated for the Mukachevo episcopal see but declined it. From 1932, he became a teacher at the Bitola seminary, and two years later, he became an associate professor at the Theological Faculty in Belgrade. From May 1948 until his death, he resided in the Cheliya Monastery, where he was a spiritual father and wrote many theological works. He reposed in the Lord on the feast of the Annunciation.
