Martyr Julian of Tarsus, in Cilicia
Martyr
Saint Julian was born in Anazarbus to a Christian mother and a pagan father. He was baptized and raised according to the teachings of Christianity.
At the age of eighteen, he lived through the persecutions initiated by Diocletian. He endured severe tortures yet remained steadfast in his faith. His mother, following his example, was also arrested and suffered many hardships for Christ. The two were brought to trial, where they courageously confessed their faith. Saint Julian was cast into the sea, enclosed in a sack filled with poisonous creatures, while his mother died during the tortures.
Their holy relics were later transferred to Antioch, where Saint John Chrysostom honored their memory.
