Martyr Hesychius of Antioch (IV)
Martyr
Saint Isichios lived during the reign of Emperor Maximian. He served as a magistrate and resided in Antioch. When Maximian issued a decree excluding all Christians from military service, many, including Isichios, chose to become servants rather than deny their faith. The emperor summoned Isichios and reproached him for his decision. The saint replied that the temporary dishonor he suffered meant nothing to him. Maximian ordered that Isichios be bound to a stone and thrown into the river, where the saint completed his martyrdom.
