Deacon
Saint Joseph was born on 7 June 1886 in the town of Zhirovichi, in the Slonim district of the Grodno Governorate. From a young age, he devoted his life to the service of the Church. He graduated from the Zhirovichi Theological School in 1901. Until 1915, he served as a church cantor in a village church, after which he moved to Moscow, where he served at the Church of Saint Sergius of Radonezh.
In 1924, he was ordained a deacon and continued to serve in various churches, including the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Moscow. In 1933, he submitted a request for permission to leave for Poland. However, his application was denied.
On 5 November 1937, he was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary propaganda. During the interrogations, he denied all the charges against him. On 19 November, the NKVD troika sentenced him to death. Joseph Shensnovich was executed on 21 November 1937 and buried in an unmarked mass grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
