Venerable John the Long-Suffering of the Kiev Near Caves
Venerable
Saint Joseph the Many-Suffering lived in the 14th century. In a severe illness, he turned to God in prayer and made a vow to serve the brethren of the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery for the rest of his life if the Lord granted him health. The prayer of the sufferer was heard. After recovering, he entered the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery, took monastic vows, and began to diligently labor in the feats of fasting and prayer, lovingly serving the brethren. After his death, Saint Joseph was buried in the Far Caves.
