Joseph of Arimathea, disciple of Jesus
Righteous
Saint Joseph of Arimathea was a secret disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a member of the Sanhedrin, he did not participate in the condemnation of Christ. After the crucifixion, he went to Pilate and requested the Body of the Lord, which he buried with the righteous Nicodemus. They took the Savior's Body down from the Cross, wrapped it in a shroud, and laid it in a new tomb in the garden of Gethsemane, attended by the Mother of God and the holy myrrh-bearing women. After sealing the stone to the tomb, they departed.
