Venerable Martyr Joasaph of Athos
Venerable Martyr
Blessed Ioasaph was a disciple of the Most Holy Patriarch of Constantinople, Niphon. He sought to emulate the virtuous life of his teacher and reached a height of love for God, desiring to suffer martyrdom for Him. After the death of Niphon, Ioasaph went to Constantinople, where he boldly preached the mystery of the Holy Trinity and the incarnation of the Son of God before the Muslims. Amazed by his courage, the Turks subjected him to various tortures, after which they beheaded him. Thus, blessed Ioasaph received the martyr's crown from Christ Jesus. He suffered on October 26, 1536.
