Saint John was born on March 21, 1877, in the village of Boronkino, Staritsky district, Tver province, in the family of priest Mikhail Vladimirskiy. He received his education at the Theological Seminary and was ordained a priest in 1906 for the church of his native village. In 1924, the authorities deprived Fr. John of his voting rights. In 1930, local authorities demanded that the priest pay unbearable taxes, and Fr. John was arrested in 1931, sentenced to five years of exile. After completing his exile in 1936, he returned to his native village, where his wife and son continued to live.
On November 15, 1937, Fr. John was arrested again. He was accused of anti-Soviet statements. During the interrogation, the priest replied that he did not consider himself guilty of agitation against the party and the Soviet government. On December 5, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution. Priest John Vladimirskiy was shot on December 8, 1937.
