Presbyter
Saint John was born on August 13, 1876, in the city of Vladimir to the family of an official, Peter Tikhomirov. In 1897, he graduated from the Vladimir Theological Seminary and was ordained a priest at the Protection Cathedral in the city of Melenki, where he served until 1930. He then served in the church in the village of Vospushka, and in 1932 returned to the Protection Cathedral. In 1936, he was assigned to the Kazan Church in the village of Petrovskoye. For many years of impeccable service, he was elevated to the rank of protodeacon.
At the beginning of 1938, the church was closed, and on January 26, Protodeacon John was arrested. During the interrogation, he did not admit guilt in counter-revolutionary activities. On February 11, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Protodeacon John Tikhomirov was shot on February 17, 1938, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
