Saint John (Ivan Nikolaevich Talizin) was born in 1888 in the family of a priest. After finishing the theological school, he was ordained as a deacon, and later as a priest at the church in the village of Ordino, Uglich district. In 1930, he was arrested and sentenced to three years of exile. Upon returning, he continued to serve in his parish. In 1937, Father John was arrested again and accused of “participating in a church-monarchist group, terrorist agitation, and spreading provocative slanderous rumors.” At his only interrogation, Father John did not confess to the fabricated charges. On November 2, 1937, the priest was sentenced to death by shooting. On the same day, he accepted his martyr's death.
