Deacon
Saint John Moskov was born on September 25, 1885, in the village of Bogorodskoye, Sergach District, Nizhny Novgorod Province. He graduated from the local rural school and, after 1917, served as a church reader and chanter at the Church of Saint Nicholas in the village of Isady.
On September 15, 1937, he was arrested on charges of anti-Soviet activity. He was tried alongside the holy martyrs Priest Alexei Molchanov and Deacon Benjamin Vladimirsky. Imprisoned in the city of Gorky, Saint John steadfastly maintained his innocence throughout the investigation.
On November 11, 1937, he was sentenced to death. He was executed on November 20 and buried in an unmarked mass grave at Bugrovskoye Cemetery in the city of Gorky.
Saint John was glorified among the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia by the Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
