Deacon
Saint John Ivanovich Moshkov was born on September 25, 1885, in the village of Bogorodskoye, Serchansk district of Nizhny Novgorod province. He graduated from a rural school and after 1917 served as a psalmist in the Nikolskaya church of the village of Isady. On September 15, 1937, he was arrested on charges of 'anti-Soviet activity.' He was tried alongside the holy martyrs, priest Alexey Molchanov and deacon Veniamin Vladimirskiy. He was imprisoned in the city of Gorky, where he did not confess to his guilt. On November 11, 1937, he was sentenced to death. He was executed on November 20 and buried in an unknown common grave at the Bugrovskoye cemetery in the city of Gorky. He was glorified by the Archierarchical Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in the year 2000.
