He was born in 1891 in the city of Bezhetsk, Tver province, in the family of a priest. In 1915, he graduated from the Tver Theological Seminary and became a psalmist in the cathedral of the city of Ostashkov. After the death of his father in 1917, he returned to Bezhetsk, worked as a teacher, but soon left teaching and in 1921 was ordained a priest. He served in the church of the village of Zaluzhanye until 1929, when the church was closed. Despite the threats of arrest, he continued to serve, for which he was arrested in 1931 and sentenced to five years in a correctional labor camp. In the camp, he continued to write to his relatives, supporting their spirits. He died of tuberculosis in 1934.

In 1938, he was arrested on a denunciation and accused of anti-Soviet agitation. He died in custody, remaining faithful to his faith and service to God.
