Saint Innocent was born in 1874 in the village of Berezki-Chechel'nitsy in the Podolsk province. In 1896, he entered the monastery, and in 1911, he was tonsured into monasticism with the name Innocent. He served in the Joseph-Volotsky Monastery until its closure in 1920. He then served in various churches, including the Ascension Church in the village of Tereyaeva Sloboda.
On February 21, 1931, he was arrested on suspicion of arson, despite the lack of evidence. During the interrogation, he stated that he considered the Soviet government a persecutor of Christianity. On June 28, 1931, he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a correctional labor camp. After his release in 1934, he continued his ministry in the Theophany Church.
On October 8, 1937, he was arrested again and accused of counter-revolutionary activities. On November 11, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to death by shooting. Saint Innocent was executed on November 13, 1937, and buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
