Hieromonk
Saint Hilarion was born in 1871 in the village of Sobichevo, Glukhovsky district, Chernigov province, in the family of peasant Pavel Pisarets. In 1893, he became a novice at the Glinskaya Desert in Kursk province, where he remained until 1914 and took monastic vows. In 1914, he was ordained as a hieromonk and began serving in Moscow. In 1927, the residents of the village of Rojdestvo in the Naro-Fominsk district of Moscow region, where there was no priest, asked Hieromonk Hilarion to come to them for the parish, and he agreed.
On October 15, 1937, the chairman of the village council sent a statement to the NKVD, reporting violations by the priest, who was collecting signatures from the faithful. On November 26, 1937, Hieromonk Hilarion was arrested and imprisoned in Taganka prison in Moscow, where during the investigation he rejected all accusations. On November 29, the NKVD troika sentenced him to death by shooting. Hieromonk Hilarion (Pisarets) was shot on December 3, 1937, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
