Saint Hilarion was a hermit known for his strict abstinence, eating only once a week. He prayed a great deal, spending days and nights in prayer with kneeling and tears. Hilarion was a disciple of Saint Theodosius, with whom he lived in the Caves Monastery, and he often opened up to him about his temptations from demons. Saint Theodosius encouraged him to endure these temptations and through his prayers delivered him from them. Hilarion labored in the 11th century, and his relics rest in the Theodosian (Far) Caves. His memory is celebrated on August 28 together with other saints, and also on October 21, likely in honor of his name day with Saint Hilarion the Great.
