The Archangel Iegudiel is the protector of those who strive and those who live in monasticism, a glorifier of God, strengthening those who labor for the glory of God. The name Iegudiel in translation from Hebrew means – glorifying God, praise of God.
According to the belief of the Church, the holy Archangel Iegudiel is one of the seven Archangels, who protected the Israelites during their 40 years of wandering. He was the Angel who preceded the Israelites in the pillar of fire and cloud during their exodus from Egypt, guarding them from pursuers.
When Moses, after a forty-day fast and prayers, ascended Mount Sinai, God appeared to him and, handing him the tablets of the covenant, gave him the law that the people of Israel were to observe. The Lord sends His Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared for you.
The service of Archangel Iegudiel is to strengthen those who labor for the glory of God and to intercede for the reward of their labors.
The holy Archangel Iegudiel is depicted holding a golden crown in his right hand and a whip made of three black cords with three ends in his left hand, symbolizing the reward from God for the righteous and holy people and punishment for sinners.
