Saint Martyr James the Presbyter, together with the deacons Azas and Audicius, lost their lives in Persia during the reign of Shapur, around 380 AD.

They were arrested and endured numerous tortures. They bore hunger and imprisonment, while their naked bodies were left hanging in the cold throughout an entire night.

The following morning, after further suffering and humiliations, they were led to execution by beheading, surrendering their souls to the Lord.
