Saint Gregory the Hesychast
Venerable
Saint Gregory, the founder of the Holy Mountain monastery of Grigoriou, was born in Serbia. In his honor, a monastery dedicated to Saint Nicholas was established, but it is known as Grigoriou. There is a tradition about his angelic struggle in a cave located near the monastery. The complete biography of the saint has been lost, as many documents of the monastery were burned in 1761. In 1405, his name is mentioned in the acts of Mount Athos. There is also a tradition that the relics of Saint Gregory were transferred by Serbian monks from Athos.
