He was born on January 24, 1890, in the village of Pogost in the Kasimov district of the Ryazan province into a poor peasant family. In his childhood, he completed a three-grade rural school and began his labor activities. From 1914 to 1918, he served in the Tsarist army. At the age of 30, he married a peasant woman, Elena Nikitichna, and the couple had three children: Nikolai, Zinaida, and Klavdiya. Their household was modest: a house, outbuildings, and livestock. He possessed carpentry skills and worked at the Pogost shipyard. He was known as a good craftsman and shoemaker. In 1937, he was arrested in connection with a supposed insurgent organization. During the interrogation, he did not confess to any wrongdoing and did not implicate anyone. On December 6, 1937, he was sentenced to death by shooting under Article 58, paragraphs 10-11.
