At the beginning of 1930, priest Georgy Nikin, hieromonks Georgy (Pozharov) and Kirill (Vyaznikov), laymen Yefimiy Grebenshchikov and Petr Vyaznikov were arrested. They did not admit their guilt in the charges brought against them. On July 14, 1930, they were presented with a decree on the completion of the investigation. On July 23, the indictment was sent to the Collegium of the OGPU. On July 28, the Collegium reviewed the “case” and sentenced the accused to execution by shooting.
The feasts of the venerable Sergius of Sarov and the prophet Elijah had passed. In the evening of August 2, the accused were informed of the sentence. They were then loaded into a vehicle to be taken to the outskirts of Voronezh to carry out the execution. At ten o'clock that evening, Archimandrite Tikhon (Krechkov) of the Alekseevsky Monastery, hieromonks Georgy (Pozharov) and Kirill (Vyaznikov), priests Ioann Steblin-Kamensky, Sergey Gortinsky, Feodor Yakovlev, Alexander Arkhangelsky, Georgy Nikin, and laymen Yefimiy Grebenshchikov and Petr Vyaznikov were shot.
