Presbyter
Saint George was born on January 1, 1883, in the village of Matrenka, Tambov province, into the family of a psalmist. During World War I, he served as a regimental clerk, and after the revolution, he worked as a psalmist in a church. In 1930, he was ordained as a priest at the Protection Church in the village of Verkhny Telelyuy.
In the spring of 1935, the authorities decided to close the church and arrest the priest. Father George was accused of anti-collective farm agitation and criticizing the Soviet government. On May 8, 1935, he was arrested and imprisoned.
During the interrogation, he denied all accusations, stating that he did not engage in discussions about the Soviet government and did not criticize it. On July 23, 1935, at a closed court session, he did not admit his guilt. The court sentenced him to five years of imprisonment in a labor camp.
In March 1938, the saints were transferred to prison, and on March 17, the NKVD troika sentenced them to execution. On June 1, 1938, he was shot and buried in an unmarked grave.
