Holy Martyr Gemellus of Paphlagonia
Martyr
Saint Gemellus came from the region of Paphlagonia. Hearing about Emperor Julian the Apostate, he went to the city of Ankara and boldly reproached him for his apostasy. Julian, enraged, subjected him to cruel tortures: a heated iron ring was placed on Gemellus, from which blood flowed. Then he was sent to the city of Edessa, where his shoulders were torn apart with heated iron spikes and nails were driven into his head. After this, he was stretched on the ground and his skin was stripped off, and then he was crucified, having his feet nailed to the cross. Thus, this long-suffering martyr passed away, giving thanks to God.
