Saint Gabriel was born on March 21, 1878, in the village of Kotelnya, Ostrovsky district of Pskov province, in the family of priest Stefan Vasilyevich Preobrazhensky. In 1897, he graduated from Pskov Theological School, served as a psalmist in the church of the village of Kupuy, and then in the church of the village of Vrev. In 1903, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1911 as a priest to the Preobrazhensky Church in the village of Aprosyovo. The parish consisted of 79 villages with four and a half thousand inhabitants. He taught the Law of God and was the head of the church-parish schools. In 1916, he participated in the congress of deputies of the Velikoluksky educational district. In 1919, he was arrested and on February 13 was sentenced to execution, which was carried out.
