Martyr Florentius of Thessalonica

Saint Florentius was a native of the city of Thessaloniki. A devoted Christian, he strove diligently to lead a life of piety and virtue. He openly denounced pagan worship and guided others toward the love of Christ.

For this reason, he was condemned to endure severe tortures, suffering brutal beatings and humiliations with steadfast faith. At last, he was cast into the flames, where, praying and giving thanks to God, he peacefully surrendered his soul.
