Saint Florus, Bishop of Amisus
Venerable
Bishop
Bishop
Saint Florus lived during the reigns of the Greek emperors Justin, Tiberius, and Maurice. His father bore the same name, Florus, and his mother was named Euphemia. After receiving a good education, he entered the royal court service and was honored with the title of patrician. After marrying and having children, he was deeply saddened when his wife and children died from smallpox. Seeing this as a sign of Divine Providence, he left his service and settled in Anaple. Leading a pious life, he was appointed as bishop in the city of Amisus. As a good shepherd, he taught his flock in the Orthodox Faith and instructed them to observe the will of God. Thus, he departed to the Lord in the early 7th century.
