Martyr Philoumenus of Ancyra
Martyr
Saint martyr Philumen lived during the reign of Emperor Aurelian in Lycaonia, engaged in the sale of grain in Galatia, in the city of Ancyra. He was slandered before the governor of the region, Felix, confessed himself a Christian, and for this was subjected to cruel tortures: he was hanged, scraped, and thrown into fire, from which he emerged unharmed by the grace of God. Then nails were driven into his head, hands, and feet, and he was dragged for 30 stades, from which the saint, exhausted, surrendered his spirit to God. The death of Saint Philumen occurred around the year 274.
