Martyrs
The holy martyrs suffered during the reign of Emperor Adrian. Saint Philit the Synclitic, his wife Lydia, and their sons Macedon and Theoprepios were Christians and served the true God. They were captured and brought before Adrian, who, unable to withstand their wisdom, sent them to Illyria to the military commander Amphilochius. Amphilochius ordered them to be hanged and tortured, but the saints prayed, and an angel appeared to strengthen them. The next morning, the torturer ordered them to be thrown into a cauldron of boiling oil, but the cauldron cooled down. Seeing this miracle, Amphilochius believed in Christ and entered the cauldron himself, receiving an answer to his prayer. Adrian, learning of the miracle, ordered the cauldron to be heated again, but the saints remained unharmed. In the end, they prayed and surrendered their souls to the Lord, receiving the crowns of martyrdom.
