Martyr Theoktista Semenovna Chentsova was born in 1880 in the city of Kaluga, in the family of a merchant who traded in hardware goods. She finished the city school, was a believer, helped in the church, and engaged in the hardware trade.
In September 1937 she was arrested as an active believer and accused of counterrevolutionary activity. During interrogations she denied all charges, stating that she had not organized secret prayer meetings or anti-Soviet conversations. On November 19, 1937, an NKVD troika sentenced her to ten years of imprisonment in a corrective labor camp. Theoktista Semenovna died on February 16, 1942, in one of the Karaganda camps and was buried in an unknown grave.
