Archimandrite
He was born on January 27, 1862, in Saint Petersburg to a family of civil servants. He was baptized with the name Vasily. From 1877, he served at the stables of the palace administration. After the Bolshevik revolution in 1917, he worked as a storekeeper and was later tonsured a monk with the name Feogen.
In 1926, Bishop Herman of Mosalsk ordained him as a hieromonk and elevated him to the rank of igumen. Father Feogen lived in various cities, including Meschovsk and Alma-Ata, where he served in the Nikolsky Cathedral. In December 1932, he was arrested along with other priests, but after interrogations, he was released.
In 1933, he was arrested again and sentenced to three years of exile in Western Siberia. In 1934, upon returning to Alma-Ata, he continued his ministry. In 1935, he was arrested again and accused of anti-Soviet agitation. In 1937, he was sentenced to five years of exile in the Northern region.
He passed away on July 12, 1939, in prison and was buried in an unmarked grave.
