Martyr Theodotus and Theodotia of Rome
Martyrs
The Holy Martyrs Theodotus and Theodote were arrested by order of the Emperor Trajan. They were threatened in an attempt to force them to renounce the true God and offer sacrifices to idols. However, they confessed their faith and resisted with courage.
After enduring many tortures, they were thrown into prison. There they met Saint Hyacinth, who preached to them and strengthened their faith. When he reposed, the holy saints were brought before the emperor. They denounced the delusion of idolatry, were hanged, cast into the fire, and finally beheaded.
After their martyrdom, the saints received a blessed repose in the Kingdom of God. Their bodies were buried at the place of their martyrdom.
