Saint Theodore Trichinas (the Hair-Shirt Wearer) was the son of wealthy parents from Constantinople. Leaving his family and all their wealth behind, he embraced monasticism in a deserted area. There he lived a strict life, facing all passions and struggles of his flesh. He stood in prayer all night, leaving his head uncovered and wearing a hair shirt, for which he received the nickname "the hair-shirt wearer". The saint was granted by God the power over demons. He performed many miracles both during his lifetime and after his repose. From his holy relics flowed myrrh, which healed diseases and cast out demonic spirits.
