Saint Theodoros the Stratelates endured many hardships in the name of God. He was persecuted for his faith by Emperor Licinius in Heraclea, where he served as a military officer.
Among his miracles is one accomplished through his holy icon. When the Saracens desecrated a church, they fired upon his image, and blood began to flow from it. This miracle caused the immediate death of the Saracens who were inside the church, while those outside remained unharmed.
Saint Anastasios of Sinai testifies to the mark on the saint’s icon, as well as to the blood that remained upon it.
The miraculous presence of Saint Theodoros through his icon serves, among other things, as a reminder of the significance of holy relics and the active grace of God.
Our church celebrates the translation of his holy relics on June 8.
