Presbyter
Saint Theodore was born into the family of priest Nikolai Remizov. He served in the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. On November 14, 1918, during the feast day, an armed detachment of Latvians entered the village, intending to execute the priests and peasants. The priests, Fathers Alexander and Theodore, were arrested and sentenced to death. Father Alexander, kneeling, prayed and prophesied that all the executioners would perish. He was killed, and Father Theodore, confronting the executioners, was wounded and lived through the night, dying the next morning. The relics of the holy martyrs Alexander and Theodore were found on October 8, 1986. They were glorified at the Jubilee Archpastoral Council in 2000. The burial of the holy martyrs took place on the third day after their martyrdom. Their memory is celebrated on November 1 (14), September 25 (October 8), and on the day of the Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
