Saint Theodore, Archbishop of Constantinople
Holy Hierarch
Archbishop
Archbishop
Saint Theodore was born in Constantinople, where he received his upbringing. He was ordained as a presbyter of the "Great" church, then became a synkellos and skeuophylax. After the death of the Patriarch of Constantinople, at the insistence of the boyars and the king, he was elevated to the rank of patriarch. After some time, due to the malicious slanders of enemies, he was deposed, but then restored to the throne. While governing the Church of God, Saint Theodore peacefully departed to the Lord.
