Saint Theodore Chichkanov was born on February 10, 1884, in the village of Barnaul district into a pious family. His father, Pavel Vasilyevich, was a village scribe and psalmist. Theodore received his education at a Spiritual School and Seminary, and in 1909 he married Lyuba Smirnova. In 1912, they had a daughter, Nina, and in 1913 he was ordained to the priesthood. Since 1915, he served in the church of Semipalatinsk.
In 1920, they had a daughter, Olga, and in 1921 — Antonina. In 1931, the Znamensky Cathedral was closed, and he became the priest of the Ascension Cathedral. Father Theodore worked extra to support his family, as the taxes on the Church were very high. On November 19, 1937, he was arrested and sentenced to execution on November 22, 1937. In 2000, Priest Nestor Panin and Priest Theodore Chichkanov were canonized among the ranks of the new martyrs and confessors of Russia.
